Right to Hire (Flex Trades. (1) It is also understood that the company has the right to hire from outside the Bargaining Unit, if it chooses, when a qualified first-class tradesperson is required providing the company first offers the opportunity to: (a) Qualified First Class Tradespersons working in the Bargaining Unit in other progressions; (b) Qualified First Class Trades Trainees who are within six (6) months of completing trades training to become a First Class Tradesperson; or (c) Qualified employees currently laid off who have retained their recall -- first to First Class Tradespersons; secondly to Trades Trainees (within six (6) months of completing trades training to become a First Class in the trade required). (d) The Company and the Union commit to have meaningful discussion regarding potential future apprenticeship programs once there is a need to hire first class trades.
