Riparian buffer habitat Sample Clauses

Riparian buffer habitat. Buffers of adequate size (typically a minimum of 100 feet on each side of all streams for a minimum total width of 200 feet measured from the top of each bank from which stream credit generation is proposed) and plant composition shall be included to reduce the negative effects of adjacent land uses and facilitate a full range of stream functions. The performance standards for wetland plant communities proposed within the riparian buffer must meet the performance standards in the 2017 ICA. Upland plant communities proposed within the riparian buffer must meet bank-specific performance standards consistent with the 2017 ICA. Sponsors will receive non-stream credit for plant communities located outside of the riparian buffer. Suggested performance standards for tree and shrub plantings within the riparian buffer are included in Appendix B: Monitoring and Performance Standards. Applicants should provide appropriate justification for proposed buffer widths. Some riparian areas will require an annual maintenance program for the control/removal of invasive, exotic, and undesirable volunteer species within the mitigation corridor;
