Room Consolidation Process. The following options are available to students who have vacancies as of the first day of classes for theFall Semester: i. Room Consolidation Process. The Should a student have a vacancy in their room on the Monday following options are available to students who have vacancies as the end of the first day Open Add/Drop Period of classes every semester, they are invited into the Room Consolidation Process where a student may purchase their room as a single buyout (fall and spring semester), or a single due to vacancy (spring semester). The deadline for theFall Semester:the Room Consolidation Process will be the second Monday following the Open Add/Drop Period, unless dictated otherwise by the Assistant Director for Residential and Commuter Living.
i. Pull another student Invitation and Communication: Students will receive an email invitation in their AIC email either on the Monday following the end of the Open Add/Drop Period, or as soon as a vacancy is created following the start of the process. Students will then receive a printed and hand delivered letter to their choice into their room that will result in a consolidationhousing assignment, and at least two additional reminder emails.
ii. Move Options Available to another Students Invited into the Room Consolidation Process:
a) Purchase the Room as a Single Buyout § This option will increase the student’s room of their choice that will result in a consolidation.
iii. Purchase the room as a “Single Buyout.” This option is based on overall room availability on campus for current and incoming students.
iv. If the student does not fill their vacant space, move housing cost to another room, or purchase the roomas a single buyout, the student will automatically be charged for the single buyout raterate (please see the Housing Rate section of this agreement). § The student will then be able to use both sets of furniture in the room, and the other bed will be taken offline. The student may later reverse this decision for a prorated cost, depending on when the student makes the request. The following options are available to students who have vacancies as both sides of the first day of classes for theSpring Semester:
i. Pull another student of their choice into their room that will result in a consolidationroom.
ii. Move to another student’s room of their choice that will result in a consolidation.
iii. b) Purchase the room Room as a “Single due to Vacancy” for an upcharge of 15% added to the semester room rate. This option is based on overall room availability on campus for currentand incoming students. This option is only available for students that meet the criteria for aSingle Due to Vacancy as defined below. A Single Due to Vacancy is as follows:
I. A (Spring Semester Only) § If a student living in a double room, who had a roommate living with them for at least 50% of the fall semester, and their roommate left creating a vacancy for the majority ofthe Fall Xxxxxxxx and currently has a vacancy in their room.
II. The “Single Due to Vacancy” reduction cannot be made retroactive at semester break for any spring semester, the remaining student who purchased a full rate single buyout at the time of housing application/selection orduring the Fall semester.
III. If the student does not fill their vacant space, move to another room, or may purchase the room as a single due to vacancy (please see the Housing Rates section of this agreement). § The student will then be able to use both sets of furniture in the room, and both sides of the room.
c) Move into another space with a preferred roommate who also has a vacancy, resulting in a consolidation. § Both students must notify the Office of Residence Life that this is a mutual agreement.
x) Xxxx another student into their room who also has a vacancy resulting in a consolidation. § Both students must notify the Office of Residence Life that this is a mutual agreement.
e) Be manually matched with a random resident by the Assistant Director for Residential and Commuter Living. § The Assistant Director for Residential and Commuter Living will consider the following in making roommate matches: academic major, class standing, athletic status, housing preferences listed in housing application. § When a match is made, both students are notified via AIC email. § The Office of Residence Life initially offered the two matched students to decide who of them will move into the other’s room. If the students are not able to come to this decision on their own, the student registered for the lower number of credits will be mandated to move. If both students are registered for the same number of credits, the student with the lower number of cumulatively earned credits will be mandated to move.
iii. If A Student Does Not Respond to the Room Consolidation Process
a. If a student does not respond by the marked deadline for each Room Consolidation Process, their room will automatically be charged for the changed to a single buyout rate,room status, and the other bed their housing charges will be taken offlineupdated to reflect the changes made. The student may later reverse this decision will be notified via AIC email that these changes will occur.
iv. Residents who engage in conduct designed or intended to dissuade or intimidate other students from moving into a room, or who otherwise attempt to manipulate the housing assignment process, will be subject to conduct action and mandatory billing for a prorated cost, depending on when single. Residents not removing belongings from half of the student makes room during the requestconsolidation process or after receiving notification of a new roommate from the Office of Residence Life is considered an act of intimidation.
