Common use of Section 1 – Holidays Clause in Contracts

Section 1 – Holidays. The following days shall be observed as paid holidays: New Year's Day Veteran's Day Memorial Day Thanksgiving Day Independence Day Christmas Day Labor Day A holiday falling on Saturday shall be observed on the preceding Friday; a holiday falling on Sunday shall be observed on the following Monday. The following holidays will be granted, but the University shall schedule observance of these holidays on the dates which it determines serve the best interests of the University: Columbus Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day Presidents Day Employee’s whose schedule bridges both a calendar day that is a holiday and a calendar day that is not a holiday will be granted their paid time off based on which day their shift starts. For example, the calendar holiday “Memorial Day” falls on Monday, May 27, 2019. For an employee whose regular shift is Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., the ‘holiday’ that they would be granted paid time off for would be from 11:00 p.m. Monday, May 27th until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday May 28th.
