Common use of Service Papers Clause in Contracts

Service Papers. An employee securing employment with the System shall, within days from the date of employment, have returned to all Service Cards and Letters of Recommendation which may have been taken up the System, except any previously issued by the System. An employee leaving the service of the System shall, on request in writing, within five days, be furnished with a certificate by the proper official stating term or terms of service, capacities in which employed, and whether discharged or leaving the service of own accord. If discharged, cause of dismissal will be stated. If detained more than five days awaiting such certificate, shall be paid schedule wages for all time in excess of five days. Unless requested, this certificate will be mailed to the employee at the place of last employment. Penalty payment of wages for delay awaiting the certificate will be limited to a period of days immediately following the date of first request unless the employee can show that has traced unsuccessfully for same during that period.
