The 'Sessional faculty' clause defines the terms and conditions under which instructors hired on a sessional or temporary basis are engaged by an institution. It typically outlines the duration of their appointments, the scope of their teaching responsibilities, and any limitations on their employment, such as restrictions on renewal or eligibility for benefits. This clause ensures clarity regarding the rights and obligations of sessional faculty, distinguishing their status from permanent or tenure-track staff and addressing issues such as job security and compensation.
Sessional faculty. For Sessional faculty, classroom visits may be conducted. Prior to reappointment of Sessional appointments, student evaluations, course outlines, any other teaching materials, and any classroom visits conducted will be assessed to ensure adherence to standards and expectations with regard to Teaching & Teaching-Related Responsibilities.
Sessional faculty. For all Sessional faculty seeking reappointment, “Annual Reports” are reviewed in order to assess adherence to standards and expectations with regard to Teaching & Teaching-Related Responsibilities.
Sessional faculty. Salary, per semester, for Sessional faculty (which shall be all-‐inclusive of salary, vacation and other benefits) shall be one-‐third (1/3) of the annual salary determined by the Sessional faculty member’s placement on the salary grid according to his/her rank and the step as determined by the criteria in Clause 32.03. In addition, a Sessional faculty member shall suffer no loss in pay for casual illness not exceeding five (5) working days per semester and Clauses 23.02 and 23.05 shall apply. Sessional faculty who have held previous Sessional appointments will not be subject to Clause 32.03 (D). Their grid placement shall be subject to the Faculty and Librarian Grid Migration in accordance with Appendix “I” where required.
