Shade Structures. The garden is located in a floodplain; therefore permanent structures are not allowed. Shade structures are intended to be simple structures where gardeners can take a rest and seek shelter from the weather. Shade structures may be constructed or purchased, but must use materials that are in good condition and must be kept in good repair. In addition, the following criteria also apply to shade structures: - Cannot exceed 7’h X 5’w X 5’d. - Must be open on three sides. - Must be placed so that it does not cast shade on neighboring plots. - A picnic table with collapsible umbrella is permitted. Pop up tents are allowed only when you are on site. They must be packed and stored when you are not in your garden. - Garden furniture is permitted (wood, plastic, metal); upholstered furniture, or any other furniture intended for indoor use, is not. - Under no circumstances can cement be used. Tool storage: it is anticipated that gardeners will want to store tools or other gardening items safely on site. - Vertical storage units may not exceed 6’h x 4.5’w x 3’d. - Horizontal storage units may not exceed 6’l x 3’h x 3’d. - Whichever form of storage is selected, it should be secure, made of durable materials in good condition, and kept in good repair. Shade structure, tool storage, and furniture may collectively take up no more than a quarter of the plot. Fencing: The RCD must be able to see into your garden to conduct plot inspections. Wire mesh fencing has been installed around each plot. This fencing must be retained, not replaced with alternative fencing, and the height may not be modified. However, gardeners may reinforce the fence to keep pests out in the following ways: - Adding a garden gate to fully enclose the plot. Garden gates can be made of wire material of a similar nature to the fencing material and must be kept in good repair. Pallet gates are not permitted. - Adding hardware cloth or similar fencing to the bottom 2 feet of the fence to exclude certain rodents. - Each plot will be assigned a number. Gardeners are responsible for posting their plot number on their fence or gate. Gardeners are responsible for repairing or replacing their own fencing with an equivalent wire material when needed. The use of concrete to install fencing is not permitted. Irrigation: A water spigot is provided to each full plot for irrigation (a spigot is shared between two half plots). Gardeners must take care not to damage these parts and will be responsible for either repai...
Shade Structures. If any of the above is secured or encumbered as collateral to any third party, the LESSOR will not accept ownership of that item without a release and waiver from the creditor and, in the event LESSEE is unable to secure such release and waiver, the total Termination Fee shall be reduced by the replacement value of such property, as determined by an MAI appraiser retained by the City at LESSEE’s sole cost.
Shade Structures. Two types of shade structures are used for parks. Both fabric and metal structures are used whereas only metal is used for trails. The following describes the types of shade structures to be used. The proposed structure(s) shall be modular and prefabricated, and include the structural steel frame, fabric/metal roof, steel cables, all fasteners, and installation of structure(s) including foundations. All shade structures shall be engineered and designed to meet a 90 mph wind load, 10 psf snow load, and 10 psf live load. Installations of shade structures shall be performed by manufacturers licensed and bonded in the State of Nevada (Xxxxx County) and comply with manufacturer’s instructions for assembly, installation, and erection per approved drawings. Manufacturers not on the approved list may be considered. Shade structures shall be lighted according to CPTED rules and regulations. The size of the shade structure will vary with each project. The minimum size for a metal shade structure is 12 feet x12 feet. The dimensions of concrete underneath shade ramadas used for picnic areas shall match the dimensions of the ramada. The size will depend on the equipment being covered. Acceptable manufacturers for metal shade structures are: Poligon Classic Recreation Systems Approved equal Acceptable manufacturers for fabric shade structures are: USA Shade Shade Systems Approved equal Steel Must be designed to meet requirements of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Specifications and the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Specifications for Cold Formed Members. All connections shall have a maximum internal sleeving tolerance of .0625 inches using high tensile strength steel sections with a minimum sleeve length of six inches. All non-hollow structural steel members shall comply with ASTM A-36 All hollow structural steel members shall be cold formed, high-strength steel and comply with ASTM X-000, Xxxxx X. All steel plates shall comply with ASTM X-000, Xxxxx 00. All galvanized steel tubing shall be triple coated for rust protection using an inline electro- plating coat process. All galvanized steel tubing shall be internally coated with zinc and organic coatings to prevent corrosion. Tension cable: Steel cable is determined based on calculated engineering load. For light and medium loads; ¼-inch (nominal) galvanized 7x19 strand cable is to be used. For heavy loads; 3/8-inch (nominal) galvanized 7x19 cable is to be...

Pest Deterrents • Decorations • Plastic or Ceramic Flowerpots • Bricks/Decorative Rocks • Any other Loose Debris Appendix B: Raised Beds Appendix C: Structures Fencing around your plot is not necessary and is not allowed at Stone Park. The City provides a fence around the whole community garden that will keep the deer out, and the height of the raised beds will keep rabbits and other critters out. Non-permanent growing structures to support your plants are welcome. They cannot shade neighboring plots and must be less than five feet tall. Below are a few examples. Appendix D: Mulch The following materials can be used to mulch inside your plot(s) and cover your plot(s) overwinter: • Leaves • Hay/Straw • Pine Needles • Grass Clippings The following items are not allowed as mulch inside your plot(s): • Wood Mulch (Hardwood, Cedar or Dyed) • Cacao Nib • Shredded Paper

Design Standards Any shade structure must adhere to design standards in the most recent version of the AISD Project Development Manual and PARD Standard Park Amenities Manual.
Shade Structures. The Contractor shall design and develop a Shade Structure Element that responds to the need to protect transit riders and pedestrians from excessive heat and sun exposure. The Shade Structure will be a structure that responds to site constraints of bus stop zones that cannot accommodate a Transit Shelter. The Shade Structure design may limit the opportunity for traditional advertising therefore, the City anticipates the Contractor will seek sponsorship agreements for these structures. As the Shade Structure is a new Program Element and there is no experience as to the sponsorship revenue potential or the cost of maintaining these structures, sponsorship revenues shall be dedicated to the cost of maintenance for an initial one-year period. After that period, maintenance records will be reviewed and used to determine annual maintenance costs, and the City will determine the resulting revenue shares to the parties. Shade Structures will only be implemented when the City has approved the design, functionality, and associated costs.
