Common use of Shared Transport Clause in Contracts

Shared Transport. Shared Transport (also known as Common Transport) is the physical interoffice facility medium that is used to transport a call between switching offices. A central office switch translates the end-user dialed digits and routes the call over a Shared Transport Trunk Group that rides interoffice transmission facilities. These trunk groups and the associated interoffice transmission facilities are accessible by any end-user (GTE end-user or CLEC end-user when CLEC has purchased unbundled local switching), and are referred to as “Shared Transport Facilities”. GTE will provide Shared Transport for a call originating from an unbundled switch port to the point where the call leaves GTE’s network IP.
