Common use of Shutdown Work Clause in Contracts

Shutdown Work. a. When an employee is required to participate in shutdown work they shall be paid for all hours worked. Further, they shall be paid for time spent waiting to be sent home via company arrangements beyond one hour. An employee shall not be paid for this time if the delay is due to inclement weather or other reasons completely beyond the control of the Employer. It is the responsibility of every employee to notify their supervisor of their ability to work. If no notification is given the time spent waiting will not be paid. b. The above arrangement excludes those employees who make personal travel plans.
