Stand-by Assignments Sample Clauses

Stand-by Assignments. For employees who accept a scheduled stand-by assignment falling outside of their regularly scheduled shift, a pay adjustment equal to one (1) hour at their normal rate of pay will be paid.
Stand-by Assignments. The City shall ask for volunteers from those employees it determines are qualified to work stand-by duty. Stand-by duty assignments will be determined on a yearly basis. If less than three (3) employees volunteers, the City shall meet with employees to discuss coverage before assigning shall assign employees to stand-by duty.
Stand-by Assignments. It is the intent of the City and the Union for this Section to comply with applicable provisions of Washington State law and the Fair Labor Standards Act. A. Stand-by assignments require the employee to be in telecommunication, phone or pager range, and ready and available to report to the station within one (1) hour of notification, with the understanding that at times there may be a reasonable delay due to circumstances beyond the employee’s immediate control. Typical stand-by assignments shall be for a minimum of twelve (12) hours. Any assignments scheduled for less than twelve (12) consecutive hours will be paid at thirty-six dollars ($36.00) flat rate, or twelve times the hourly rate as prescribed in the applicable Joint Labor Agreement, whichever is greater. B. Employees scheduled for thirteen (13) or more consecutive hours of stand-by will be compensated at a rate as prescribed in the applicable Joint Labor Agreement or three dollars ($3.00) per hour for all stand-by hours, whichever is greater, except that the per hour stand-by pay will cease when an employee is called out. When an employee is called out, a minimum of four (4) hours at the appropriate overtime rate will be paid from the time the employee is notified to report for the assignment until the assignment ends. All hours worked in excess of four (4) hours will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate. Stand-by pay will resume once the overtime assignment ends. The employee will not receive stand-by pay during the period of time they are receiving overtime. C. When a City owned vehicle is not provided to an employee who is called into work during off duty time, the employee will be compensated an additional one (1) hour at the time and one-half (1½) rate.
