Step One - Informal. A grievant or his/her association representative shall present his/her grievance to his immediate supervisor within thirty (30) days from the time he/she knew or should have known a grievance occurred or in which the Association is notified the grievance occurred. The grievance shall be presented verbally. If the grievance is not satisfactorily adjusted informally, the grievance may proceed to Step Two.

Step One - Informal. 1. Grievant shall first attempt to resolve a grievance informally with the grievant’s immediate supervisor. This attempt at informal resolution shall be made by the grievant within the earlier of ten (10) calendar days of the date the grievant first has knowledge of the events or circumstances giving rise to the grievance, or within forty-five (45) calendar days of the date these events or circumstances occurred. At this Step there is no requirement that the grievance be submitted or responded to in writing. However, upon request of the grievant, a Grievance Representative may be present, or may initiate the informal attempt at resolution on behalf of the grievant. The supervisor shall provide a verbal answer to the grievant or Grievance Representative within seven (7) calendar days after the initial attempt at informal resolution.
Step One - Informal. A unit member grievant shall attempt to resolve the situation giving rise to the grievance by an informal conference with the grievant's immediate supervisor or other appropriate administrator. The Association when acting as grievant shall on its own behalf initiate a grievance by attempting to resolve the situation giving rise to the grievance through a conference with the appropriate administrator having lowest level of authority over the situation. Three (3) days shall be allowed for this informal process to resolve the grievance. If the informal process fails to resolve the grievance, the grievant may initiate the formal grievance process in accordance with the following: a. A grievance involving only one employee or group of employees at the same school shall be initiated at Step One Formal as defined below. b. A grievance involving more than one employee at more than one school may be initiated at Step Two as defined below. c. A grievance involving Association right may be initiated at Step Two as defined below.
