STREAMSIDE MANAGEMENT ZONE. A portion of Unit 08 is bounded by a Streamside Management Zone (SMZ). This is marked by PINK flagging stenciled with “STREAMSIDE MANAGEMENT ZONE” and two ORANGE paint X’s. No harvest shall occur beyond this marking. No equipment shall enter beyond this marking.
STREAMSIDE MANAGEMENT ZONE. SMZ’s are marked on ground. Yarding and winching will be conducted outside the SMZ boundary. Downed trees may not be yarded across stream banks unless supported by other trees. Bucking should generally occur 5 feet beyond stream channel. Additional guidance from Forest Officer will outline where trees are required to be bucked.
