Structural Steel Plates. Structural steel plates shall meet the requirements of ASTM A709/A709M, Grade 50. All materials shall be killed fine-grain mill practice. Mill repairs of base metal are prohibited. Toughness shall meet the requirements of ASTM A709/A709M for Zone 1. All materials shall include mill certification showing that the material meets the necessary toughness requirements.
