Subsistence and Expense Clause Samples
The Subsistence and Expense clause defines the rules and limitations regarding reimbursement for living expenses and other costs incurred by individuals, typically employees or contractors, while performing duties away from their usual place of work. This clause often specifies which types of expenses are eligible for reimbursement, such as meals, lodging, and travel, and may set daily limits or require receipts for claims. Its core function is to ensure that individuals are fairly compensated for necessary out-of-pocket expenses while preventing excessive or unauthorized spending.
Subsistence and Expense. Employees shall be paid ninety dollars ($90.00) a day, or reasonable room and board, whichever is higher, seven (7) days a week for such a period as he/she is required to live away from his/her place of residence. Such maintenance shall not be considered wages and shall be paid by separate check. In addition, they shall receive the negotiated rate of pay and fringe benefits.
Subsistence and Expense. Employees shall be paid according to the rate set by the Controller pursuant to Administrative Code Section 10.32, seven (7) days a week, for room and board for such period as the employee is required to live away from the employee's place of residence. Such payments are for reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of official duties and are not compensation for duties performed.
