Substance Abuse Professional and Medical Providers. The employee may use the City’s Employee Assistance Program at no expense up to the service limit specified in the City’s contract with the Employee Assistance Program. Referrals by the City’s Employee Assistance Program shall, to the extent available, be to medical providers covered by the employee’s health care plan. The City and the Union recognize the importance of rehabilitation and treatment for alcohol and drug abuse as part of maintaining a healthy, safe and productive workforce. Employees are strongly encouraged to avail themselves of City services, such as the Employee Assistance Program or others, to prevent those conditions with alcohol and substance abuse.
