Substitute Custodians. Compensation Employees not scheduled for regular duty who are hired by the Board as substitutes in their same job position shall be paid their regular hourly rate instead of substitute pay.
Substitute Custodians. The Board shall make a good faith effort to hire substitutes to cover duties of regularly assigned custodians when they are absent. Any custodian who will be absent from scheduled duty shall report his absence to the principal or building administrator at least 60 minutes prior to start of his shift.

Substitute Custodians. A custodian substitute may be called in to replace an absent custodian if the absence is anticipated to be more than one day in length. On holiday breaks and summer vacation, the School District reserves the right to determine whether a substitute is required. The exclusive representative and the School District understand that employee work priorities may change when substitutes are not called in. Variances from work priorities will be issued by the building principal or head custodian at the beginning of the working custodians' shift.
Substitute Custodians. Substitute custodians may be employed only when a staff member is absent from work and it is determined by the supervisor that it is necessary to have someone fill in for the employee. Substitute custodians will be selected from the pool of temporary custodians.
Substitute Custodians. For the term of the 2023-2025 Contract, District 621 and School Service Employees Local #284 representing custodial employees, mutually agree to allow the School District to employ on an on-call basis such personnel as it deems necessary or desirable as contract substitute custodians to replace absent custodians. A contract substitute custodian is defined, for purposes of this Memorandum of Understanding, as a substitute custodian performing duties for the School District for sixty-seven (67) days or less in a calendar year. Contract substitutes will receive an hourly wage as determined by the District. Contract substitute custodians shall not be eligible for any benefits or provisions of this Contract except for the salary listed above. The District will provide the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ the names of the contract substitutes on May 30, August 30 and December 30. This Memorandum will sunset at the end of the 2023-2025 Contract. This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into between Mounds View Public Schools, Independent School District No. 621 (the District) and SEIU, Local 284 representing custodial employees, (the Union) related to off schedule payments.

Substitute Custodians. For purposes of this Agreement, Substitute Custodians are those who have successfully completed all District requirements for training and have been certified by the District as qualified substitute custodians.
Substitute Custodians. A pool of temporary substitute custodians will be maintained by the District. A substitute may be utilized when a bargaining unit employee is absent from work. Substitutes will primarily fill in on the night shift with a minimum of 4 hour blocks. They will not be used for set ups or other traditional overtime events. That option will be offered to Bargaining Unit Members first. However, if enough Bargaining Unit members do not volunteer for the overtime, then a substitute custodian may be utilized. Identification badges of substitutes will clearly indicate that they are a substitute.
Substitute Custodians. Substitute Custodians are temporary, non-regular employees who may work sporadic schedules to fill in for regular full-time custodians who are absent. A substitute custodian shall not work for more than 600 hours per year. Substitute custodians shall be paid the hourly rate appropriate for the shift worked. The Administration may utilize Substitute Custodians after overtime has been posted per the procedures of Article II Section 2 and if there are no Custodians who have volunteered to work those hours. For absences reported less than 48 hours from the shift a group text will be sent to custodians on the other shifts and overtime will be awarded to the first responder. If no one responds within one hour after the text was received, the work may be assigned to Substitute Custodians. For extended leaves of absence (exceeding 2 work weeks) the Administration may utilize Substitute Custodians without following the overtime procedure described above. Compensation for personal use of cell phone use has been negotiated as part of the overall compensation agreement. Substitute Custodians shall accrue seniority proportionately, except that seniority shall reset for a break in service if a substitute rejects more than three consecutive work assignments within a 12- month period. In the event a full-time custodian position becomes vacant and after full time custodians have had the opportunity to move into that open position in accordance with Article VIII Section 5, substitute custodians shall be given preference in filling that position on the basis of seniority. Substitute Custodians shall not be eligible for benefits nor the just cause provisions of this contract, except substitute custodians shall accrue sick leave at the rate of 1hr for every 40hrs worked. Sick leave shall be taken and reported in accordance with all other provisions of this Agreement.
