SUBSTITUTE UNAVAILABILITY. If, due to the unavailability of a substitute, a teacher covers a class during his or her planning time at the request of the principal, such teacher will be compensated at an hourly rate of $22.00 per hour. (Refer to Article II M.) If, due to the unavailability of a substitute, a class is dispersed among the classes of grade level colleagues, the teachers involved will be compensated by taking the base salary x 6/7 divided by 15.5 186 days divided by 5.5 (actual hours with students).
SUBSTITUTE UNAVAILABILITY. If, due to the unavailability of a substitute, a teacher covers a class during his or her planning time at the request of the principal, such teacher will be compensated at an hourly rate of $17.00 per hour. (Refer to Article II M.) If, due to the unavailability of a substitute, a class is dispersed among the classes of grade level colleagues, the teachers involved will be compensated by splitting the appropriate rate for a substitute teacher. Example 1: sub pay ($120) divided by 3 teachers = $40 per teacher/day Example 2: sub pay ($120) divided by 4 teachers = $30 per teacher/day Example 3: ½ day sub pay ($60) divided by 3 teachers = $20 per teacher/day
SUBSTITUTE UNAVAILABILITY. Each building will, at the beginning of the school year, develop a plan for covering classes in the event that no substitute is available. If Human Resources has been contacted to provide a substitute for an absent teacher, and no substitute is available, an amount equal to the daily substitute rate, or a half day rate, will be provided as follows: Using the building plan, certificated staff covering for the absent teacher may be paid. An amount of the daily substitute rate proportionate to the part of the day covered will be available for this purpose. If no certificated staff is willing to cover, funds may be used to hire paraeducators. Unused funds will go to the building budget.
SUBSTITUTE UNAVAILABILITY. If the substitute dispatch office is unable to provide a 41 substitute for an employee absence, then the certificated employee and long-term 42 substitutes on the contractual rate covering the class for that employee shall be 43 paid as follows:
1 1. Pay for lost planning time: Teachers covering classes during their planning 2 time shall be paid the extra duty rate for each hour of class time coverage. If 3 an employee absence requires coverage for one half (1/2) day or more, the 4 building administrator must call immediately for a substitute. An employee 5 covering a class less than thirty (30) minutes shall qualify for one-half (1/2) 6 hour of compensation. An employee must cover a class for a minimum of thirty- 7 one (31) minutes to qualify for one (1) hour of compensation.

5 ii. Elementary PE and Music and Librarians: PE/Music/Librarian teachers 6 who substitute instead of providing planning time may be compensated 7 for lost planning time (Section 4.4, paragraph B.i). PE/Music/Librarian 8 teachers are not expected to make up missed sections and are therefore 9 not compensated when they substitute instead of providing planning time. 10 The classroom teacher is compensated for the missed planning time 11 (Section 4.4, paragraph B.i).
