Suspension and Termination of Proceedings. On the joint request of the Parties, the panel shall suspend at any time the proceedings for a period agreed by the Parties not exceeding 12 consecutive months. In the event of such suspension, the relevant time periods shall be extended by the period of time for which the proceedings of the panel were suspended. The panel shall resume the proceedings at any time upon the joint request of the Parties or at the end of the agreed suspension period on the written request of a Party. The request shall be notified to the chairperson of the panel, as well as to the other Party, where applicable. If the proceedings of the panel have been suspended for more than 12 consecutive months, the authority for establishment of the panel shall lapse and the proceedings of the panel shall be terminated.
