Common use of Suspension of the Works Clause in Contracts

Suspension of the Works. 22.1.1. The Principal may, at any time, suspend the Works or any part thereof and the Contractor shall comply with a written direction to that effect from the Principal‟s Representative or the Project Manager. 22.1.2. The Principal‟s Representative or the Project Manager shall notify the Contractor when the Works or part thereof are to be resumed and the number of days (if any) by which the Construction Period shall be extended as a result of such suspension. 22.1.3. Subject to clause 22.1.4, the Principal is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever incurred by the Contractor as a result of the Works being suspended or in respect of work done or lost during the period of such suspension. 22.1.4. The Principal will pay for the expense of personnel necessarily retained at the Site during the period of suspension if agreed to by the Principal at the time of suspension. 22.1.5. The Principal is not liable to compensate the Contractor for any loss or damage arising out of suspension of the Works or any part thereof caused by or attributable to the Contractor and such suspension shall not excuse the Contractor from any of its obligations under this Contract.
