Temporary Replacements. 25:1 Each school year, the District will offer temporary teaching assignments equal to the number of regular unit members currently on leave. The District may also advertise and offer positions as probationary in cases of special need. As a result of increasing enrollment and/or attrition, individuals employed on temporary contracts may later be offered probationary status. District decisions regarding the offer of probationary contracts will be based upon the following criteria: 25:1.1 Projected staffing needs, i.e., grade level/subject; 25:1.2 Credentials held by the temporary teacher, i.e., grade level/subject; 25:1.3 Recommendations by administrators. 25:2 In October the Superintendent, or his/her designee, will share information with the Federation concerning the number of unit members on leave and the number of teachers on temporary contract. Any discrepancy shall be resolved by November 1. 25:3 Upon request, the Superintendent, or her/his designee, will meet with individual teachers and/or representatives of the Federation in order to discuss decisions regarding movement to probationary status.
