Knowing Our Customer The USA Patriot Act is a federal law that requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies a prospective Cardholder. Commerce is required to request your name, current address, social security number (or other government issued identifying numbers) and date of birth as part of our Customer Identification Program (CIP). You may also be asked to provide proof of your identity, such as a valid driver’s license, or other government issued photo identification that proves residency and nationality.
