Common use of Theory lessons and exams Clause in Contracts

Theory lessons and exams. ▪ The employer enables the apprentice employee to follow the theory component of the BBL programme. An employee aged 22 or younger follows this part of the programme during the day on a week day. The employee is not paid for this day of theory instruction. If an apprentice employee is receiving this theory instruction during an evening class, the employee may leave work as early as necessary, in consultation with the employer, to be able to arrive at the class in time. The employee will not be paid for any hours not worked as a result of this early departure. ▪ The employer gives the apprentice employee the opportunity to take exams during the work-based learning time. The employee is entitled to continued payment of wages during the time he or she is taking these exams. This applies equally to other activities the educational institute specifies must be carried out during working hours.
