Track Referrals and Treatments. MCOs must establish a tracking system that provides up-to-date information on compliance with EPSDT service provision requirements including a Periodicity Schedule of preventive services and standards of care in the following areas: 1. Initial visit for newborns. The initial EPSDT screen must be the newborn physical exam in the hospital, birthing center, at home or other setting. Based in part upon the results of the birth score procedure conducted through the hospital or birthing center under the auspices of the Bureau for Public Health, the periodicity of preventive pediatric visits must follow schedule recommended by the AAP or the accelerated visit schedule set for infants identified as “at risk” through the birth score system. 2. Preventive pediatric visits according to the West Virginia’s Periodicity Schedule up to age twenty-one (21). 3. Diagnosis and/or treatment, or other referral in accordance with EPSDT screen results. The MCO must employ processes to ensure timely initiation of treatment, if required, generally within an outer limit of six (6) months after the screening services.
