Common use of Traumatic Incident Clause in Contracts

Traumatic Incident. An officer who participates in or observes an incident which may have a lasting psychological impact on an officer, as determined by their supervisor (or requested by the effected employee), may be placed on administrative leave. Administrative leave of up to one full workday may be granted by the employee’s immediate supervisor. A leave of up to three (3) days may be granted by the Chief or designee, following consultation with the Health and Wellness Unit and the effected employee. The employee may choose to include a Federation Representative in the consultation. If the employee requests administrative leave more than thirty (30) days after the traumatic incident, the request shall be considered in the same manner as a leave of more than one (1) day.
