Unassigned Service. ‌ (1) Employee in pool freight and in unassigned service held at other than home terminal longer than 11 hours without being called for duty will be paid minimum freight rates on the basis of the table below (Add one hour to the Heldaway and Automatic Call columns for Non Conductor-only territory.) all time held in excess of 11 hours except that in cases of wreck, snow blockade or washouts on the subdivision to which assigned, Employees held longer than 11 hours will be paid for the first 8 hours in each subsequent 24 hours thereafter. Time will be computed from the time pay ceases on the incoming trip until the time the crewmember either takes control of their train or locomotives for the working trip, or when deadheading; actual departure from the terminal. (2) In lieu of the provisions contained in the foregoing paragraph, Employee in pool freight and in unassigned service working on a territory on which the Company has implemented conductor- only train operations, held at other than the home terminal longer than 10 hours without being called for duty will be paid minimum freight rates on the basis of the table below for all time held in excess of 10 hours except that in cases of wreck, snow blockage or washouts on the subdivision to which assigned, Employees held longer than 10 hours will be paid for the first 8 hours in each subsequent 24 hours thereafter. Time will be computed from the time pay ceases on the incoming trip until the time the crewmember either takes control of their train or locomotives for the working trip, or when deadheading; actual departure from the terminal. (3) The decision to provide an automatic call or pay heldaway at 18.75 miles will be at the Company’s discretion. The graphic below applies to Conductor-only territory. Unassigned Service. A. Unassigned crews will run first-in, first-out of the terminals on their respective subdivisions except as otherwise provided in this Article. X. Xxxxx in unassigned and irregular freight service may be called to make short trips and turnarounds with the understanding that one or more turnaround trips may be started out of the same terminal and paid actual miles with a minimum of 100 miles for a day, provided: i. that the mileage of all the trips does not exceed 120 miles; ii. that the distance run from the terminal to the turning point does not exceed 30 miles; and iii. they shall not be required to begin work on a succeeding trip out of the initial terminal after having been on duty eight consecutive hours, except as a new day subject to first in-first out rule or practice. C. An unassigned crew which has come on duty in turn will remain with the train called for even though another crew comes on duty later and gets out of the terminal first. The first crew called will not be considered "run around" under these circumstances. This provision has been adopted as an operating convenience under certain circumstances and is not designed to circumvent the requirements of Article 25.12. D. When regular passenger train assignments extend over more than one subdivision and unassigned trainmen are required to augment the assigned crew, such men may be used through an intermediate terminal in the same manner as the assigned crew.
Unassigned Service. (a) Six-Day Rule (i) New jobs created and permanent vacancies will be advertised for six (6) days to the system. Trainmen in the zone where the vacancy occurs will be allowed to apply and file on permanent vacancies or new positions during the bulletin period. Filing on will constitute a bid. If such trainman is not the successful applicant for the position he will revert to his former position. Filing on will apply to trainmen in the zone where the vacancy occurs only. (ii) It is not a requirement that the trainman securing the vacancy or job must have worked same during the sixty period as he may have been holding a preference position at the time, but he must have made written application prior to the expiration of the six-day period. (iii) The six-day period means six (6) full twenty-four (24) hour periods from the time the vacancy occurred or job was open. (iv) A trainman moving on to a position while it is open for the six-day period does not establish himself on the position and if displaced by a senior trainman before the expiration of the six-day period must return to the position from which he moved and cannot move to displace a trainman from a position that he had previously passed up. In other words, one position is open and goes to the senior trainman who has applied for it during the six-day period. (v) Under this six-day rule, when two or more positions are open and are being filled during the six-day period, the senior trainman can displace on to the position of his choice which is open and it will not be necessary for him to displace the junior trainman as would be the case in respect to these positions after the Expiration of the six-day period. (b) When crews in unassigned service are reduced, the junior Conductor’s crew will be reduced in a terminal. The senior trainman reduced who desires to remain on a rear-end position will be required to displace the junior rear-end trainman in unassigned service in that terminal. (c) A trainman exercising seniority in unassigned service will only be permitted to displace the junior man in such service, due regard being given to rear-end preference. (d) A trainman in unassigned service will be permitted to move from a head-end position for a rear-end position. (e) A trainman displaced from a rear-end position in unassigned service may elect to remain on the crew for head-end position or move to displace the junior head-end man in that class of service. Unassigned Service. An unassigned employee shall hold himself available for duty throughout a general holiday. Where an employee elects to utilize Article 55.3 (a) (ii) to qualify for holiday pay he/she shall also hold himself available throughout the day before and the day after the general holiday.
Unassigned Service. Where Engineers are run first-in, first-out and they are not called for service in their proper turn through no fault of their own, the first-out available Engineer will be considered as having been run-around and will be paid at the rate of the class of service for which the Engineer should have been called as follows:

Where an employee elects to utilize subparagraph to qualify for holiday pay he shall also hold himself available throughout the day before and the day after a general holiday. In the application of Article (a) and an employee who is otherwise qualified for general holiday pay and who is under rest for any portion of a qualifying day, where the rest booked does not exceed hours consecutive with a shift or tour of duty, shall not lose his entitlement to general holiday pay. A locomotive engineer, except if on the spare board, who makes himself unavailable when called or books off for his job which commences on the day before a general holiday and thereby makes himself unavailable for a return movement on the general holiday will not be considered as available for duty on the holiday as required by Article This Paragraph shall not apply to an employee who books not more than hours rest consecutive with the last tour of duty prior to the general holiday or to an employee suffering from a bona fide injury or hospitalized on the holiday, or who is in receipt of or who subsequently qualifies for weekly indemnity benefits because of illness on such holiday. A qualified employee whose vacation period coincides with any of the general holidays specified in Article shall be paid the amount specified in Article An employee who does not qualify for general holiday pay and who is required by the Corporation to work on a general holiday shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement. Holiday pay for an employee qualified under Articles and shall be hours over and above the guarantee and not calculated in the accumulation of hours. For the purpose of this Article Deadheading for which compensation is paid shall be deemed to be a tour of duty. The application of this Article shall not result in a duplicate payment upon the inclusion of a general holiday provision in any other collective agreement. May SECTION WEST
Unassigned Service. Locomotive engineers in unassigned service who are held at other than their home terminal longer than 11 hours without being called for duty, will be paid on the basis of 12-1/2 miles per hour for all time held in excess of 11 hours at the minimum rate in the class of service last performed, except as provided in paragraph 30.2 of this article. Time to be computed from the time pay ceases on the incoming trip until the time pay commences on the next outgoing trip. The rerouting of locomotive engineers in order to return them to their home terminals shall not involve the payment of runarounds.
