Common use of Union Release Time Clause in Contracts

Union Release Time. (a) It is acknowledged by the parties that all Union stewards and other Union representatives have regular duties to perform as employees of the University. Therefore, Union stewards and other Union representatives will not leave their duties without first obtaining the permission of their supervisor, or designate. Requests for Union Release Time, paid or unpaid, shall not be unreasonably denied. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Parties recognize that from time to time minor issues that require only a few minutes of the Union stewards‟ or other Union representatives‟ attention will arise and/or that there will be circumstances where an employment supervisor is not available; in such cases employees will exercise reasonable judgment having regard for the needs of their (b) When entering a department to attend to Union business, the Union xxxxxxx or other Union representative must first contact the supervisor of that department and advise her as to the general nature of the Union business. The agreement will be between the employee and her supervisor and will be in writing, specifying the details of the time and date the missed work will be performed. (e) All employees shall be entitled to 1 one hour paid leave each fiscal year for the purposes of attending the annual General Meeting of the Union. (f) The Union shall provide the University with written notification of the date and time of its annual General Meeting 30 days in advance. Employees who plan to attend shall provide reasonable notice to their supervisor.

Paid Release Time (c) Subject to Article 5.03(a), release time shall be grantedgranted to the Unit Chairperson or the Union Xxxxxxx, with no loss of regular pay or benefits, from regularly scheduled hours, for the following purposes: i. to represent the Union on committees and task forces that are created at the invitation of the UniversityEmployer; ii. to participate in Labour Management Committee meetings; iii. to represent employees Employees in grievances, including the investigation of a complaint; iv. to attend meetings with the UniversityEmployer which may include matters of absences due to illness or injury; and, v. to conduct Employee orientations in accordance with Article 25. Regularly Scheduled Unifor Local 5555 Representative Meetings d) The Unit Chairperson and Union Xxxxxxx shall be entitled to 1 hour per month, immediately before or after their regularly scheduled lunch period, without loss of pay or benefits, and without the need to obtain permission from their Supervisor for the purpose of attending regularly scheduled Unifor Local 5555 representative meetings. e) The Unit Chairperson and Union Xxxxxxx shall provide their Supervisor with at least 2 weeks’ notice of each regularly scheduled meeting. f) The time absent due to attendance of 1 delegate at the semi-annual meetings of CAUT Council (2 days per year).meeting will be made up by the Unit Chairperson and Union Xxxxxxx within the week in which the meeting is held unless otherwise agreed with their Supervisor. Unpaid Release Time (dg) Subject to Article 5.03(a), any release time required by a the Unit Chairperson and Union xxxxxxx or other Union representative Xxxxxxx to attend to Union business other than for the purposes outlined in Article 5.03(c) will, if granted, when granted will be without pay or will be granted with an agreement that the time absent will be worked at a later date. Employees who plan to attend shall provide reasonable notice to their supervisor.

The agreement will be between the employee and her supervisor and will be in writing, specifying the details purpose of the time and date the missed work will be performedattending regularly scheduled CAW Local 555 representative meetings. (e) All employees If the Unit 3 Chairperson or Union Xxxxxxx is a Part-time Employee, she shall not be entitled scheduled to 1 one hour paid leave each fiscal year for the purposes of attending the annual General Meeting of the Unionwork during regularly scheduled CAW Local 555 representative meetings. (f) The Unit 3 Chairperson and Union Xxxxxxx shall provide her Supervisor with at least two weeks notice of each regularly scheduled CAW Local 555 representative meeting. (g) The time absent from work due to attendance at the University CAW Local 555 representative meeting will be made up by the Unit 3 Chairperson and Union Xxxxxxx within the week in which the meeting is held unless otherwise agreed with written notification of the date and time of its annual General Meeting 30 days in advance. Employees who plan to attend shall provide reasonable notice to their supervisorher Supervisor.

Union Release Time. (a) Provided the Union President’s position remains a full-time position, the employee serving as Union President shall automatically be granted release time by the Authority from their regular job duties to serve as the Union President. This full-time release shall remain in effect during the employee’s term in office as Union President. It is acknowledged by understood that the parties that all Union stewards President remains a COTA employee and other Union representatives have regular duties to perform as works directly with employees of the University. Therefore, Union stewards and other Union representatives will not leave their duties without first obtaining the permission of their supervisor, or designate. Requests for Union Release Time, paid or unpaid, shall not be unreasonably denied. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Parties recognize that from time to time minor issues that require only a few minutes of the Union stewards‟ or other Union representatives‟ attention will arise and/or that there will be circumstances where an employment supervisor is not available; in such cases employees will exercise reasonable judgment having regard for the needs of theirAuthority during this release time. (b) When entering No more than four (4) employees who are officers or members of the Union, exclusive of the full-time Union President, shall be granted release time by the Authority from their regular job duties on a department part-time basis to attend to Union business, transact business for the Union xxxxxxx provided reasonable advance notice is given by a Union official for such release time. Part-time release time in excess of four (4) Union officers or other Union representative must first contact members may be granted to employees under special circumstances upon the supervisor of that department and advise her as to the general nature express approval of the Union businessPresident/CEO, or their designee. (c) Subject to Article 5.03(a)No more than four (4) employees who are officers or members of the Union, exclusive of the full-time Union President, shall be granted release time shall be granted, with no loss of regular pay or benefits, from regularly scheduled hours, for by the following purposes: i. to represent the Union on committees and task forces that are created at the invitation of the University; ii. Authority to participate in Labour Management Committee meetings; iii. to represent employees in grievances, including the investigation of a complaint; iv. to attend meetings collective bargaining sessions with the University; and, v. the attendance of 1 delegate at the semi-annual meetings of CAUT Council Authority. No reimbursement is required for releases under this paragraph (2 days per yearc). (d) Subject to Article 5.03(a), any During the release time required specified in paragraphs (a) and (b) of this Section, employees so released: (1) Shall continue to receive their regular wages from the Authority, on its payroll; (2) Shall suffer no loss of seniority rights with the Authority; (3) Shall have full participation in the Authority’s insurance programs; (4) Shall be covered by the Authority’s workers’ compensation program; (5) Shall have PERS employer and employee contributions submitted by the Authority on their behalf. Employees who are released on a part-time basis shall continue to receive all benefits provided by the Authority to bargaining unit members. The Union xxxxxxx or other Union representative to attend to Union business other than shall reimburse the Authority for the purposes outlined in Article 5.03(c) will, if granted, be without pay or will be granted with an agreement all costs that the time absent will Authority pays for employees released from their regular job duties under provisions of paragraphs (a) and (b) of this Section. (f) The Union shall provide the University with written notification of the date and time of its annual General Meeting 30 days in advance. Employees who plan to attend shall provide reasonable notice to their supervisor.

(a) Provided the Union President’s position remains a full-time position, the employee serving as Union President shall automatically be granted release time by the Authority from their regular job duties to serve as the Union President. This full-time release shall remain in effect during the employee’s term in office as Union President. It is acknowledged by understood that the parties that all Union stewards President remains a XXXX employee and other Union representatives have regular duties to perform as works directly with employees of the University. Therefore, Union stewards and other Union representatives will not leave their duties without first obtaining the permission of their supervisor, or designate. Requests for Union Release Time, paid or unpaid, shall not be unreasonably denied. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Parties recognize that from time to time minor issues that require only a few minutes of the Union stewards‟ or other Union representatives‟ attention will arise and/or that there will be circumstances where an employment supervisor is not available; in such cases employees will exercise reasonable judgment having regard for the needs of theirAuthority during this release time. (b) When entering No more than four (4) employees who are officers or members of the Union, exclusive of the full-time Union President, shall be granted release time by the Authority from their regular job duties on a department part-time basis to attend to Union business, transact business for the Union xxxxxxx provided reasonable advance notice is given by a Union official for such release time. Part-time release time in excess of four (4) Union officers or other Union representative must first contact members may be granted to employees under special circumstances upon the supervisor of that department and advise her as to the general nature express approval of the Union businessPresident/CEO, or their designee. Such reimbursement shall be paid by the Union to the Authority in the month following any such payments made by the Authority. This section shall be binding on committees and task forces that are created at the invitation of parties to the University; ii. to participate in Labour Management Committee meetings; iii. to represent employees in grievances, including the investigation of a complaint; iv. to attend meetings with the University; and, v. the attendance of 1 delegate at the semi-annual meetings of CAUT Council (2 days per year)extent permitted by law. (d) Subject An unpaid leave of absence shall be given to Article 5.03(a), any release time required by employee who is elected or appointed as a fulltime officer in the International Union xxxxxxx or other Union representative to attend to Union business other than for the purposes outlined in Article 5.03(c) will, if granted, be without pay or will be granted with an agreement that the time absent will be worked at a later date. The agreement will be between the employee and her supervisor and will be in writing, specifying the details duration of the time and date employee’s tenure in such office without loss of seniority rights with the missed work will be performedAuthority. (e) All employees shall be entitled to 1 one hour paid leave each fiscal year for the purposes of attending the annual General Meeting of the Union. (f) The Union shall provide the University with written notification of the date and time of its annual General Meeting 30 days in advance. Employees who plan to attend shall provide reasonable notice to their supervisor.
