Common use of Unit Member Options Clause in Contracts

Unit Member Options. Disabilities resulting from pregnancy and recovery therefrom are considered temporary disabilities and, in general, will be treated as conditions of illness. Sick leave may be used for such disabilities. However, a pregnant unit member may prefer a long-term unpaid General Leave. Prior to use of either type of leave, the pregnant unit member shall choose the type of leave preferred and notify the Personnel Department in writing. Once made, this choice may be reversed only with the approval of the Personnel Department.
