Valve Boxes. 1. All valves shall be equipped with valve boxes. The valve boxes shall be heavy, roadway type boxes. The valve box cover shall be marked “WATER VALVE” or “WATER”. 2. Valves shall be furnished with extension stems as necessary to bring the operating nut to within 24 inches (600 mm) minimum of the top of the valve box.
