WASC ACCREDITATION. If Charter School serves students in grades 9-12, Charter School shall obtain Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation before Charter School graduates its first class of students. ENGLISH LEARNERS Charter School is required to timely identify potential English Learners (ELs) and provide them with an effective English language acquisition program that affords meaningful access to Charter School’s academic core curriculum. Instructional plans for English Learners must be (1) based on sound educational theory; (2) adequately supported with trained teachers and appropriate materials and resources; and (3) periodically evaluated to make sure the program is successful and modified when the program is not successful. On an annual basis (on or about October 1), Charter School shall submit a certification to the LAUSD Charter Schools Division (CSD) that certifies that Charter School will either adopt and implement LAUSD’s English Learner Master Plan or implement Charter School’s own English Learner Master Plan. If Charter School chooses to implement its own EL plan, the plan shall include, but is not limited to, the following: How English Learners’ needs will be identified What services will be offered How, where, and by whom the services will be provided How Charter School will evaluate its EL program each year, and how the results of this evaluation will be used to improve the program, including the provision of EL services Each year, Charter School shall provide to the CSD a report on its annual EL program assessment. Upon request, Charter School shall provide a copy of its current EL Master Plan to the CSD. Charter School shall administer the CELDT/ELPAC annually in accordance with federal and state requirements. Charter School shall reclassify English Learners in accordance with federal and state requirements. Charter School shall ensure that it will provide parent outreach services and meaningfully inform parents with limited English proficiency of important information regarding Charter School matters to the same extent as other parents.
