Xxxxxxxxx Interpretation Assignment. A unit employee who is qualified and assigned the responsibility for bilingual interpretation and whose use of the language is of significant benefit to the operations of the department as determined by the department head, shall receive assignment pay according to the following rules: 1. To be eligible for this assignment pay, a unit employee must pass a language proficiency test, which is job related to the duties and responsibilities performed. 2. The test need not be written, but may test verbal skills in communication with non-English speaking persons. 3. The City shall pay each eligible designated unit employee forty dollars ($40) per pay period for the duration of the assignment.
