Y Rates. Any employee occupying a position which is reallocated to a class, the maximum salary for which is less than the incumbent's present salary or occupying a position in a class the salary rate or range for which is reduced, shall continue to receive his/her present salary. Such salary shall be designated as a Y rate. When an employee on a Y rate vacates his/her position, subsequent appointments to that position shall be made in accordance with Section 11.2.
Y Rates. Employees occupying certain classifications may have been, or will be during the term of this Agreement, Y-rated. Employees designated for Y-rating shall be given no salary increases in any form including cost of living adjustments until such time as the Y-rates are removed through adjustment to the compensation plan.
Y Rates. Whenever the effect of reclassification is to reduce the salary of an incumbent, the Board of Supervisors may direct that a capital "Y" be set opposite the reclassified position on all payroll and other personnel records. Whenever a capital "Y" is set opposite a position, the incumbent shall continue to receive their previously authorized salary until termination of their employment or until a higher rate of pay may be authorized, whichever occurs first.
