Each September since 1996, Waldorf high school senior students and their teachers, have come to Hermit Island, Maine, to camp and work together in a beautiful environment surrounded by ocean. Typically there are six or more schools for the week sharing main lessons, art and science labs, working in the rocky tide pools and meeting at campfires. As far as we know, this is a unique experience for Waldorf education worldwide. We have a long established and positive relationship with the owners and managers of the campground. Along with us, there will be campers vacationing on the island who are not from our schools and expect quiet in the evenings. Thankfully, we have had safe trips each year with no serious injuries or accidents. To continue to make this trip possible, we all have a communal responsibility to behave in a positive and safe manner. Therefore, we are asking you and your parents to review and sign this document.
