IMPROVING AGREEMENT IN THE HISTOLOGIC GRADE OF ACTIVITY IN ULCERATIVE COLITISResearch Study • November 17th, 2017
Contract Type FiledNovember 17th, 20171Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada; 2Division of Gastroenterology, St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada; 3Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada; 4Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada Background: Relapse of ulcerative colitis (UC) may be predicted by histologic activity detected on biopsies from colonoscopies. As different indices for grading histologic activity in ulcerative colitis (UC) exist in clinical practice, there is an interest in standardizing the histologic criteria for activity grade. The objective of this study is to assess the inter-observer agreement for histologic grade of activity in UC at a tertiary care center before and after standardization of the criteria for histologic grade.
