Bethlehem Conservation Easement Agreement Purpose/MissionConservation Easement Agreement • September 9th, 2014
Contract Type FiledSeptember 9th, 2014The Town of Bethlehem Conservation Easement Agreement program is an open space tool to conserve open space lands, maintain the character of the Town, and provide financial incentives and assistance to those landowners choosing to maintain their land as open space. Property owners who commit to conserving land as open space for a minimum of 15 years can receive an exemption on their property assessment resulting in a reduction in property taxes, under such conditions as may be specified within a conservation easement agreement with the Town. While conserving developable lands is a key component of the program, constrained lands which may include, but not be limited to, wetlands, steep slopes, water bodies, etc. are also highly valued for their contribution of habitat for wildlife.
