These agreements are necessary whenever there is maintenance, construction, or installation of drainage pipes, pipelines, utility lines, or other linear structures that intersect a railway. The maintenance, construction, or installation of a device or structure above, adjacent to, or beneath a railway raises numerous safety concerns for the railroad.
