Projects funded through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative (CHCI), activated by Community Foundations of Canada, can only be made to Eligible Organizations. Community-led organizations or community groups not listed as eligible may indirectly apply to the CHCI by entering into an intermediary relationship or by finding a collaborator on the project who is an eligible organization. An intermediary relationship is when an eligible organization agrees to take on a project as its own activity and engages a community group, not listed as eligible, as an intermediary to carry out the project. This relationship should be entered into between organizations with a mutual alignment of values and missions. If an application with an intermediary relationship secures funding, payment will be made to the eligible organization that will be responsible for disbursing funds to the community group, not listed as eligible.
