The London Borough of Bexley (LBB) has been granted £2.35 million from the Thames Gateway Sustainable Communities Fund for a new clubhouse for Erith Yacht Club (EYC). In this project LBB is acting as the middle party between the funder and the organisation who will run the Project – Erith Yacht Club. As the organisation that has been granted the funding, LBB is held accountable for delivering the project by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) which means that it carries the risk of having to repay the funds should the Project not be delivered as agreed. To minimise the risk to local tax payers and to ensure value is achieved with public funds, LBB must put in place conditions to reduce its financial risk and monitoring arrangements to ensure the Club both delivers the agreed Project within budget and adheres to the high standards of financial propriety required by LBB and DCLG.
