Adit Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent: A horizontal opening into an underground mine from the side of a hill or mountain. A legal agreement between EPA and an individual, business, or other entity requiring the other entity to perform or refrain from performing specified actions or to pay specified costs. ASAOCs apply to civil causes of action and can be enforced in court. They describe the required or proscribed actions, and may be subject to a public comment period.ASAOCs are commonly used for removal actions and RI/FSs, but also may be used for de minimis and cost recovery settlements. Administrative Record: The body of documents that "forms the basis" for the selection of a particular response at a site. For example, the AR for remedy selection includes all documents that were “considered or relied upon" to select the response action.
