Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea Service Level AgreementService Level Agreement • February 26th, 2013
Contract Type FiledFebruary 26th, 2013Schools have a statutory duty to provide an induction process for all Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) during the first year of teaching (this may be extended in some circumstances). This process must include a 10 percent reduction in teaching time, support and mentoring from the school’s NQT co-ordinator or designated NQT mentor, regular observation and feedback about the quality of teaching and provision of a professional development programme with related action plan. Schools are responsible for keeping records as required by Department for Education (DfE) guidance, complying with deadlines and providing evidence of the NQT’s progress against the relevant teaching standards, and suitability for the teaching profession. At the end of the induction period, the headteacher makes a recommendation to the appropriate body, usually the Local Authority (LA), about whether the NQT has successfully completed their induction. The appropriate body is responsible for the final decision.
