The purpose of this Agreement is to establish and maintain satisfactory working conditions, hours and wages, to pro- vide an amicable method of settling differences or griev- ances which might arise, and to maintain harmonious rela- tions between the Employer and all employees covered by this Agreement. It is agreed that such relations will assist the Employer in the most efficient operation of its business. However, this Preamble shall not conflict with contractual arrangements as set out in the body of the Agreement.

Work on Statutory Holidays will be on a voluntary basis, that is employees have the right to refuse. It is understood, however, that where this creates staffing problems, employ- ees may be scheduled by reverse seniority to work on the Statutory Holiday.
