The Plant Systems Branch reviewed Region II's August 14, 1995 technical assistance request to re-evaluate the service water pond model adequacy which serves as the ultimate heat sink (UHS) at the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2. As a result of that review we requested assistance from the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS) because of the hydrological engineering expertise needed to evaluate transient heat analyses of UHSs.
