The Faculty Association bargaining unit agreement contains a provision for a Sick Leave Bank (Article IV.D.3). Each year of the contract, a Faculty member can voluntarily contribute one day (8 hours for an academic year employee; 7 hours for a calendar year employee) of his/her sick leave balance toward the Bank. If, during the year, that employee suffers a “catastrophic” illness or injury, he/she may request to be allowed access to the Bank. A Committee composed of 2 members appointed by the Faculty Association and 2 members appointed by the Administration will determine whether or not the request will be approved.
