The Joint Science and Technology Institute (JSTI) STEM Club is a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) initiative that aims to create and support high-quality STEM clubs in high-needs high schools. STEM clubs are located at schools across the nation and they serve as co-curricular programming that foster additional engagement for students in their STEM interests throughout the school year. The JSTI STEM Club, managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), will identify a group of teachers who are committed to start or expand existing afterschool STEM clubs with the support of school administrators. This initiative provides an opportunity for teachers to participate in a multi-day workshop where the focus will be to train them on the nature of STEM clubs, curricula options, and how to use and maintain STEM equipment and materials.
