The United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) sponsored the Human Identification (HumanID) program. The goal of the HumanID program was to develop new techniques, technology, and algorithms for the automatic recognition of humans. As part of the HumanID program, the University of South Florida (USF) developed a database of gait video and associated information. The database is meant to aid research efforts in the general area of developing, testing and evaluating algorithms for human identification. The University of South Florida (USF) has copyright to the collection of gait video and associated data and serves as the Principal Investigator for distribution of the HumanID Gait Baseline Database.
