FiledMay 13th, 2014DISCUSSION: This is a renewal of an approved Agreement with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). Florida Statute 1003.52(13) requires each school district to negotiate a cooperative agreement with the DJJ regarding the delivery of educational programs to students under the jurisdiction of the DJJ. This agreement specifies roles and responsibilities of both agencies. There are five DJJ education programs in Brevard County: Brevard Group Treatment Home, Frances Walker Halfway House, Melbourne Center for Personal Growth, Outward Bound, and Brevard Regional Juvenile Detention Center. CONTRACT TERM: The initial contract term shall commence on July 1, 2014 and continue until June 30, 2019. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Dr. Beth Thedy, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Melissa Catechis, Director of Student at Risk and staff, to approve the attached agreement with The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
