The Pilgrims, a branch of their stricter main religious affiliation of Puritan, was religiously persecuted and fled Britain in 1620. They headed towards the new world in hopes for a better life. Before they reached the east coast of Massachusetts, they wanted to make an agreement on how the colony should be organized. This agreement called the Mayflower Compact was signed was signed November 11th, 1620 by forty one adult men on the ship of the Mayflower.
