This document will lay out the roles and responsibilities of the preceptor and the apprentice. It will endeavor to be both specific and general so as to ensure that both the student (apprentice) and the midwife (preceptor) mutually benefit from an agreed upon arrangement but still have flexibility within the scope and practice of midwifery in each location. It is important that both parties are able to receive the training, service, experience, assistance, and so forth to maximum effect.
