PRINCIPAL UNDERWRITING AGREEMENT THIS PRINCIPAL UNDERWRITING AGREEMENT, between WASHINGTON MUTUAL INVESTORS FUND, INC., a Maryland corporation (the "Fund"), and AMERICAN FUNDS DISTRIBUTORS, INC., a California corporation ("AFD").
