This EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT (“Agreement”) is entered into effective as of the 1st day of May, 2009 (the “Effective Date”), by and between the Company, as hereinafter defined, and William T. Whamond (“Executive”). As used herein, the “Company” shall mean HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., a Delaware corporation, or such other HCC entity as is designated by the Chief Executive Officer of HCC, for which Executive devotes from time to time the substantial portion of his efforts. The Company shall sometimes be referred to herein as “HCC.” Executive and the Company are sometimes collectively referred to herein as the “Parties” and individually as a “Party.”
