CWA-CenturyLink agreement drops Medicare retirees from healthcare

Since that time, many major companies have followed the Chrysler lead and moved their Medicare-eligible retirees and spouses to private Medicare exchanges such as OneExchange. These retirees had experienced “capped” plans under company coverage that increased their premiums annually at double-digit rates. In contrast, most retirees in open market plans have experienced less than 3 percent annual premium increases, according to the AARP Public Policy Institute. This move gives a win to Medicare- eligible retirees with lower annual premium increases, and a win for CenturyLink by stabilizing costs of insuring retirees.
